Race to the Stones, in memory of John O’Brien

In July this year, John O’Brien, LCMB Founder and MD will run 100 km in one day, from Oxford to Swindon, in the Race to the Stones, to raise money for Ataxia UK.

Earlier this year his father, also John O’Brien, died after a long illness due to a neurological disorder, or ataxia. He got excellent support from carers and the ataxia community in Ireland.

I am doing this run in memory of my dad and to both raise awareness of ataxia and to raise money for the community to help current and future sufferers. 9% of the UK’s population will suffer from an ataxia. This is an area that gets very little funding and I am hoping to help make a small difference with the sponsorship I raise.

I will be covering all the costs associated with the event myself, so all money raised will go directly to the charity.

If you would like to make a difference for this cause, which has no other source of funding other than sponsored fund raising, you can sponsor John via this link.
