A sustainable workplace
Reduce energy costs, manage carbon emissions & achieve Net Zero
Looking to be Net Zero Carbon compliant but need support getting there?
Improving the energy efficiency, performance and sustainability of a workplace is the quickest way to lower costs and carbon emissions. You could reduce your costs by 10%.
LCMB will help you reduce energy, manage carbon emissions, AND achieve Net Zero.
LCMB 3-Step Process
Every workplace has the potential to be more efficient and ultimately cost less to run.
To achieve this, you need an optimisation plan which looks to improve all aspects of how your building is performing.
Assess
Building Estate & Workplace Performance Audit
Understand what you have, what areas need
remediation, the business case associated costs and resource required.
- Full audit assessment of all building estate energy usage and scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.
- Data collection providing information on current energy and carbon emissions, compliance issues, end of life issues, maintenance requirements.
- Report (Scope 1, 2 & 3) provided with outline scope for improvements and establish a baseline which can create a Business-as-Usual forecast for carbon emissions for your organisation to 2050.
Manage
Building Estate & Workplace Health Check
Take audit information to ensure compliance and develop an optimisation plan.
-
Remediate any immediate compliance and reporting issues:
• EPC (Energy Performance Certification)
• ESOS (Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme)
• SECR (Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting) -
Develop a recommended guidance plan with milestones to reach NZ target – Scope 1, 2 & 3.
• Building and heating decarbonisation plans
• Building refurbishment
• Sustainability consultancy and planning - Annual review and audit of building estate and workplace to health check for compliance issues and to review if the plan is on track for delivery.
Modernise
Building Estate & Workplace Modernisation Plan
Delivery and management of recommendations to modernise building estate and workplace to become
environmentally sustainable.
- Energy efficiency – enhancing and optimising the lighting, HVAC systems, renewable energy sources etc.
- NZ plan – green building initiatives to become more sustainable and achieve your NZ targets.
- Provide a Project management framework of recommended efficiency and NZ plans.
Our experts will audit your energy use and associated costs across your estate and identify energy and carbon saving
projects, with cost and payback calculations and optimisation targets. This will help you achieve sustainable cost savings, optimal energy consumption and long-term reductions in carbon emissions.
Benefits
- Achieve 15-25% reduction in energy consumption and carbon emissions.
- Auditable assessment and measurement of energy and carbon usage.
-
Identified energy and carbon saving projects:
• Scope 1 & 2: reduce the energy use within your buildings and infrastructure by installing more efficient lighting, ventilation etc as well as optimising control systems and algorithms.
• Scope 3: visibility of emissions. Working with supply chain to reduce emissions. - Compliance with Net Zero targets, EPC ratings, ESOS.
- Measurement, data, reports, and evidence required for legal or supplier proof..
With limited in-house specialist knowledge and resource, and an ever-changing environment of regulatory requirements, technological
advancements and market conditions, identifying a starting point, developing a plan and implementing a solution can be challenging.

Customer success stories
Oxfordshire County Council
The Challenge
Oxfordshire County Council had an ambitious Net Zero Target but with limited resources and knowledge in-house, a large and complex real estate and pressure to obtain essential decarbonisation grant funding, they required the knowledge and experience of the LCMB consultancy team, to assess, create and deliver a decarbonisation plan.
LCMB Solution
LCMB audited the existing heating systems and energy consumption in each estate building, as well as reviewing building
usage and energy requirements (such as building occupation rates, existing heating systems etc). Detailed analysis and
recommendations were then delivered across the entire OCC building estate.
Benefits
This individual analysis across the entire building estate, ensured that OCC has complete visibility of their estate landscape
and provided a wider decarbonisation programme where both energy and cost efficiencies could be achieved through the
delivery of renewable and sustainable solutions.
Kärcher
The Challenge
Karcher enlisted LCMB to conduct their ESOS phase 3 assessment, identify the 10% de-minimis requirements of the ESOS audit and quantify the energy profile of their transportation operations across three sites.
LCMB Solution
LCMB conducted a building and energy audit to ascertain the energy consumption stemming from electricity and gas usage within the operations, providing the client with a full energy consumption report and recommendations for energy and carbon reduction initiatives. In building Thrive sensors installed – measuring air quality, temperature, CO2 etc
Benefits
Implementing energy and carbon-saving projects will enable Karcher to advance its decarbonisation strategy and identify areas which Karcher could apply to all their remaining sites so they can save more energy.
The Thrive data collected allows Karcher to see issues with their BMS and challenge the efficiency of the system as well as the Quality of the workplace for their employees. This is ensuring that the team are working in a positive environment with maximum productivity. A great bi product is that the Karcher offices are a great place to be
National Express
The Challenge
National Express needed support in verifying their energy performance and identifying energy and carbon reduction opportunities. This included conducting energy audit reviews to understand current energy consumption so that decisions could be made on where to invest, and which projects should be a priority.
LCMB Solution
LCMB produced EPC reports to allow a like-for-like benchmark comparison on consumption between buildings to outline individual site improvements. This included cost analysis and ROI payback calculations.
Benefits
By evaluating each property, determining the necessary steps to achieve an EPC rating and making energy efficiency recommendations, National Express had the necessary data to inform stakeholders and progress their sustainability plans.
