Mike is taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer

This year I am taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer on behalf of the Movember Foundation.

Prostate cancer affects more men than any other cancer, taking the lives of close to 307,000 men each year. A number surpassed by 500,000 men dying from suicide. That’s 807,000 men every year. This is a number that must change.

On Sunday the 29th of September, I will don my finest attire with my fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health.

But before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I would like you to donate what you can for this meaningful cause and help me reach my goal. Last year I was Oxford’s third highest fundraiser which was a shock and also something that I was immensely proud of. If I can come anywhere close to that this year it will be brilliant.

I have been building a bike for the event but with only a matter of days to go, I’m not quite sure it will be finished in time. I bought the bike as an abandoned project, in boxes of bits. Although it looks almost finished, there is a lot still to be completed – brakes, wiring, lights – basic stuff. I will do my utmost to have it ready – by hook or by crook I will ride in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2019.

For your uncles, your brothers, your fathers and friends. Donate what you can, for their lives need not end. And I really mean, whatever you can, a little or a lot, will be hugely appreciated.
