Our answer: Thank you for your very interesting question! Zero carbon isn’t quite upon us, but the UK socio-economic climate is showing more interest, and the political, legislative and regulatory environment are very likely to force UK public and private sector organisations to zero carbon.

Several UK cities and large scale organisations have already committed to zero carbon operational performance for between 2025 and 2040....

Spotlight Case Study

How we optimised Havas' London HQ 

LCMB worked with Havas, the global media company and their landlord to review and optimise their new London HQ which houses 1,700 staff. 

Havas see their HQ as a source of competitive advantage - a workplace that attracts, retains and gets the best from their talent to help them succeed in the competitive media and music industries. 
 

Objective 

Havas recognised that the workplace environment influences people's performance and wellbeing, and wanted to explore ways to improve staff productivity, satisfaction and retention, and reduce staff under-performance and attrition.

They recognise that optimising their workplace and buildings to improve staff productivity delivers a significant ROI because of the low cost of these interventions compared to staff costs. 

LCMB were asked to review the performance of Havas' new building and identify measures to improve and optimise its performance. 

Approach and result

We captured feedback from team managers, surveyed staff and reviewed the building plant and operations to identify areas for improvement.

We also installed Internet of Things (IOT) devices to collect indoor environmental data such as temperature, humidity levels and air quality to validate the performance of their workplace. We mined this and the other available building data to quantify current performance. 

As a result we identified cost effective ways to optimise Havas' workplace, and quantify the benefits.

Esos - What the Goverment isn't telling you

ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme) is now in its second phase, with qualifying companies being required to register their ESOS status and certification with the government by 5th December 2019.

Typically, gov.uk is the go-to location for information about government-related schemes, policies and legislation. It’s very good for the facts, but if you were looking for the bigger picture, you’d be looking in the wrong place.

Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Earlier this month, Rudi walked 45 miles along the South Downs Way to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Rudi says: 

“In the last year I have lost a very dear friend to cancer and the support she got was immense, it is nice to be able to put a bit back. The walk itself was tough, and I mean TOUGH. The entire route is on rocky paths, which is hell on feet, and there are very few sections where you are not on an incline of some description. That said, the views are spectacular!”

Meanwhile, John is training hard for his gruelling 21k swim in Lake Windermere in September. John says:

“One in three of us will suffer from cancer over our lifetime which means pretty much all of us will be impacted directly or indirectly.  Macmillan Cancer Support are there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. They do great work supporting cancer sufferers and their families.”
