John O’Brien, our MD and founder has signed up for the Ironman 70.3 Dublin event in August of this year to raise money to help feed Syrian refugees.
The on-going violence in Syria has meant that over 450,000 people (at least 4,000 of which are children) have lost their lives in the conflict. As well as around 12.5 million people becoming displaced.
This event will see John swim 1.9km, cycle 90km and run 21.1km on 14th August 2016 through Dublin, his home city.
All the money raised by John will make a difference, going directly to charity, as he’s covering the full cost of participating in the event.
“Like many people, I was moved by the tragic pictures of the plight of the Syrian refugees on television and inspired to help Sunny Araf, a colleague from the Goldman Sach 10,000 SME programme, who is raising £2m for this charity through GLM (Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre). This will be a tough event but I am hoping to raise £1,500 towards Sunny’s target”
