Stewardship helps over 40,000 people live out their calling to be generous stewards, giving more than £100 million each year to over 4,200 churches, 2,500 Christian workers and 6,000 charities. They are committed to helping the UK’s Christian community to give generously. Due to its size, Stewardship was required to participate in the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS).
Stewardship ESOS Assessment
Summary
Situations
Stewardship was required to undertake an ESOS Assessment, and LCMB were appointed to provide consultancy services to ensure compliance with Phase 2.
The assessment included the following elements:
- Measurement of the total energy consumption for the organisation.
- Identify areas of significant energy consumption, accounting for at least 90% of the total energy consumption
- Appoint an ‘ESOS Lead Assessor’ to conduct and oversee the ESOS Assessment
- Selecting a route to compliance in respect of each area of energy consumption and undertaking the activity to comply via this route – these included ESOS compliant energy audits of Stewardship’s building and operations.
Actions
LCMB calculated the carbon footprint from energy consumption data provided by Stewardship’s suppliers and validated it against on-site data.
We completed an ESOS compliant energy audit for Stewardship’s head office by visiting, surveying and assessing the building to measure how it was being used.
The advice was then given to Stewardship on how they can improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in their offices.
Benefits
LCMB highlighted the opportunity to reduce energy consumption, would result in a direct cost saving of £7,657. Our recommendations included installing smart LED lighting, introducing an energy management plan/policy, and reviewing overnight electrical base load.
Challenges and Achievements
The report and ESOS submission were completed within budget and on time taking the stress away from the company management.
We have worked with Mike for several years and he always provides a first-class, professional service. He patiently answers all our questions and LCMB provided an easy to understand report with clear, concise recommendations.
