Bouygues E&S FM is working in partnership with Broomfield Hospital – Mid and South Essex Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to provide Hard FM, Lifecycle and HelpDesk Services to the New Build element. The Trust provides a wide range of services including A&E, emergency medicine and surgery, elective surgery in most specialities, and maternity and paediatric services.
As part of Bouygues’ contract with the Trust, they provide a monthly energy report. When Bouygues found themselves without an in-house Energy Manager, LCMB stepped in at short notice to provide energy management support, whilst they recruited for a replacement.
Bouygues were able to continue its contract delivery obligations without penalty and the Trust continued to receive a high-quality service.
LCMB were able to provide a reporting template that the new Energy Manager could replicate quickly.
The Trust was given visibility of its energy consumption.
Graphical representation of electricity consumption in ‘heat maps’ demonstrated the site’s consumption profile.
Produced the hospital’s Display Energy Certificates ensuring compliance.
LCMB were able to represent Bouygues at regular sustainability meetings with the Trust’s senior management.
BMS controls were trimmed to reduce air handling units’ energy consumption
LED lighting upgrade project was scoped with projected energy, carbon and financial savings.

Mike understood our requirements completely and after an initial set up meeting, worked very autonomously liaising with the energy suppliers and all stakeholders to produce a report which exceeded our expectations from the first draft, which was extremely well received by the client, it contained costed initiatives for both big picture energy projects together with ‘low hanging fruit’ low cost quick wins and the right amount of technical detail in plain English with intuitive diagrams to be able to be shared with a wide audience without further editing.
