John O’Brien, LCMB’s Founder and MD, successfully completed the one-day 100k Race to the Stones run on Saturday 14th July, along the Ridgeway, across the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs areas of outstanding natural beauty.
John ran the 100k to raise money for Ataxia UK. 9% of the UK’s population will suffer from an ataxia, or neurological disorder over their lifetime.
The Ridgeway follows a route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers, the 87 mile long Ridgeway passes through ancient landscapes through down land, secluded valleys and woodland.
“It was a privilege to run the stunning Ridgeway, a path used by people over the last 5,000 years. I am delighted to have been able to complete the run to raise money for Ataxia UK and in memory of my father who died earlier this year from the effects of an ataxia. This is an area that gets very little funding and the money I have raised, with the generous help of my sponsors, will go a long, long way.” John O’Brien
