Ho, Ho, Ho it’s time to reflect.

LCMB Christmas card When I think of Christmas I think of excited children, family and friends, cold weather and the smell of Christmas trees. I also think it’s a great time to stop, reflect on the last twelve months and plan what’s to be achieved over the coming twelve months.

2014 has been a very busy year for LCMB. We’ve grown our team and had the continued support of our existing clients and worked with some great new clients such as Oxfordshire County Council. We’re proud of the difference we’ve made for our clients by improving their use of their buildings and their resources. Amongst our work this year we’ve delivered a Facilities Management and Sustainability Strategy for University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and worked with Birmingham International Airport to improve their energy and sustainability performance. Both organisations will be able to invest more in their front line services because of the money we have helped saved them in other areas. Our work for Oxfordshire County Council to design, launch and project manage “Too Good to Waste”, a food waste minimisation programme got great media coverage on TV and in the press and was very positively received by both the hospitality sector and public alike. The programme has made a significant impact in reducing the volumes of food waste going to landfill across Oxfordshire.

Chloe, Mitchel and Rudi joined our team over the last 12 months and like the rest of us are motivated to make a difference. The way we do this is by helping make our clients more environmentally and financially sustainable. Our aim is to save our clients 15 to 30% of their energy costs, 10 to 15% of their Facilities Management costs and 5 to 10% of their refurbishment and infrastructure project costs. We are planning to grow our team and services in 2015 to further improve how we can help our clients and will also continue to invest in our innovation programme and platform.

On a personal note I’ve had a number of challenges in 2014, which included the one thrown at me by Kieran McDaid of UCLH when he invited me to join the UCLH partners Mallorca 300, a 300km bike ride across Mallorca, to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Many spin classes and miles later all 22 UCLH riders successfully completed the challenge in September and collectively raised over £40,000 for the hospital. I’m planning to continue in this theme in 2015 by taking part in the Blenheim Triathlon to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma research and I can be sponsored at https://www.justgiving.com/John-O-Brien7 if this is a charity that resonates with you.

I am pleased with all that we achieved in 2014 and looking forward to making an even bigger impact in 2015.

I would like to thank all our clients, our partners, our team and the Mallorca Mountains for making it all possible in 2014, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Ho, Ho, Ho…….
